HANDED DOWN - URBAN NAR8IVS

HANDED DOWN

The new kid on the Blog has arrived and happens 2be a freelance dancer,Designer, part time model, entrepeneur and stylist.

Looking forward to sharing cheap and realistic views on fashion.

Growing up in a house with 5 brothers was tough regarding fashion. I am the 2nd youngest and received clothing that came down

from the eldest. By the time it got 2 me you can imagine what state it was in.
FADED,BOLLETJIES…THE WORKS!

T-shirts received iron-on stickers, jeans got dyed and jerseys…well mummy made me take the bolletjies off. Eventually it all

got 2much for me so t-shirts got cut into vests or knotted and jeans became paddle-pushers or shorts and as for the jerseys,I

just gave them 2my younger brother ;-)

The point of hand-me-downs was to save money and time. Now and then we would get new clothing and would have to match them

with the ones we had in the family for years (lol). This taught me how to look after my clothing so they last longer.

Second hand clothing sold in boutiques are ironically the new ‘Must Haves’ and we are willing 2pay big cash for something

that was worn by many, not that I mind wearing 2nd hand goods,it’s just… I would not pay double the real value of the

garment just to fit in with peers or fashion trends.

My question to you: Do u want an affordable and fresh look? The secret 2my closet is trading with my friends and pimping out

a few garments.

Process goes something like this:
> put aside a box in which all your unwanted goodies go and when friends come over dont let them leave without checking what

they would want - Hassle Free! :-)
> make a date with your friends to meet up at someone’s place and bring along what you dont want as well as snacks :-P and

trade amongst each other-FunTimes!

What have we accomplished?

1. Saving money and time
2. New outfit
3. Freedom…

…to ‘cut and paste’ without feeling guilty if you should spoil the ‘unpaid-for garments’.
4. Maybe even the Next Trend Setter.

REMEMBER: Never give with expectation to receive.

Happy Giving!
